Federal Revenue increases currency limit in cash when entering and leaving the country.
Starting next year, travelers will be able to take US$ 10,000 worth of currency abroad, without having to make any declaration. Until then, the limit was R$ 10 thousand. The change takes place through an amendment promoted by the Federal Revenue in the Foreign Exchange and International Capital Law (Law No. 14.286/2021).
There was also the exclusion of control for carrying checks and traveler's checks.
If the Brazilian needs to carry a value greater than US$ 10,000, it is necessary to issue the Electronic Declaration of Travelers Goods (e-DVB). Anyone who does not do so is subject to criminal sanctions, in addition to having the money withheld at the time of boarding.
